Trivellini Academy versus in-person courses and live surgery
A comparison of the online academy with in-person courses and live surgery workshops: practice, cost, schedule, follow-up and when to choose each of them.
By Trivellini Academy Team · · 2 min read

For many surgeons, watching another surgeon operate live or practicing under supervision is how they learn. This comparison puts that format next to the online academy and says where each wins. It is part of the map of hair transplant training.
Examples with a public source
- ISHRS Europe Live Surgery Workshop, Milan, Sunday 26 May 2024, at San Raffaele Hospital: three operating theaters with live surgery and an amphitheater for discussion; attendees, split into teams, rotated through the theaters [1].
- ISHRS Europe 2026 Live Surgery Workshop, Rome, 24 May 2026: a full-day event with three operating rooms, aimed at surgeons who want to advance their skills [2].
- Workshops in collaboration with ISHRS: live surgery in Rio de Janeiro (13 October 2026) and the 18th Hair Transplant 360 Comprehensive FUE Hands-On Course in St. Louis (16 and 17 July 2027), with registration "opening soon" [3].

Where in-person courses win
- Seeing and doing. Watching a real case or practicing under supervision is something no online training reproduces.
- Network. You meet other surgeons and faculty.
- Every step in a real context, from anesthesia to closure.
Where the academy wins
- Total cost. No travel and no closed clinic days (details).
- Repetition and structure: the course with a quiz.
- Follow-up afterwards: 1:1 session.
- Language: versions in several languages.
When to choose an in-person course
If what you need is supervised practice or to see the flow of a full surgery.
When to choose the academy
If you want to prepare for the event, review afterwards or resolve doubts without waiting for the next edition. Reasonable for many is to combine: academy before and after, event for the practice.
Related problems: the learning curve and depending on technicians.
